Transcription happens in the nucleus of the cell and takes place before translation. During this process, DNA is transcribed into messenger RNA when the base codes in DNA are copied. From here, the mRNA strand moves out of the nucleus and into the cytoplasm where translation occurs. This process starts at the ribosomes which are made of rRNA. Another type of RNA called tRNA brings amino acids to the ribosome and attaches them in the specific order that is coded on the mRNA. Peptide bonds link the amino acids, and this is how the process of translation is carried out (DiscoveryEducation).
